Question:
Is anyone 5'5

I am trying to find postops who are less than 5'5" tall and less than 250 pounds. I would like to get an idea of approximate weight loss. If you have your pictures on this site, I would love to see how you are doing. Thank you.    — Grace H. (posted on July 26, 2002)

I am 5'5" and weighed 238 the morning of surgery (May 28, 2002). I lost 16 pounds the first two weeks after surgery; 11 more pounds the the four weeks following. I am now eight weeks out and have lost about 6 more pounds (I have reached a dreaded plateau). So total, I have lost 33 pounds. I was told by my doctor that my weight loss would be slower because I was a "light weight" (haha -imagine that). You have to remember though that each person is definitely an INDIVIDUAL when it comes to weight loss. Your experience probably will differ totally from the folks who answer your question. I only have a before picture posted on my site, but feel free to check it out. Good luck to you!

Grace, I am 5'3, started at 249 and have lost 70 (am 179) after 6 months. They consider those of us under 250 as lightweights and therefore we don't lose as quickly as the ones who weigh much more. Go to my profile if you want to see the month by month weight loss.

I am 5'5", weighed 248 the day of surgery which was 6 1/2 weeks ago. I've lost 42 pounds so far and feel great. Some say lightweights don't lose as fast, but I guess it depends on the individual. Best thing you can do is not fret over every pound and don't weigh yourself every day! Best wishes - Sandi
