Question:
Dr. Asbun in Walnut Creek or MT. Diablo Health Center?

Anyone know anything about the health center or Dr. Asbun. He is being used by HEalth net hmo in Contra Costa County and I have never heard of him.    — deespol (posted on July 19, 2002)

Hi! I haven't heard of that surgeon, however I do go to the nutritionist @ Mt. Diablo (I had the RNY @ Stanford) & she was telling me that they were going to start performing WLS. She seemed really happy about the surgeon. Sorry I don't remember any specifics!!!

I have heard great things about Dr. Asbun. Acutally as of now (11/22/02) Healthnet HMO is still not referring to Dr. Asbun. I have that HMO with Muir Medical and they are refering to UCSF (go figure!!! What sense does that make - send someone far away when their own hospital has a program?!?!? As I understand East County Medial Group and Hills Physicians Medical Group ALSO refer to UCSF and not the program at Mt. Diablo.) Anyway - I'm waiting it out because supposedly they are in negotiations and hopefully it will be resolved soon. Dr. Asbun is an experienced Laprascopic surgeon and has a "great reputation" according to my PCP. Check out his page... he's in the Doctor Database on this site.
