Question:
Will abnormal results postphone surgery

I am in the process of getting preop testing performed. I just found out that my cholesterol has increased from 185 last year to 249, now in the high range. Also my urinalysis is positive for blood and bacterial. Will this cause surgery to be postphoned? I am tentatively scheduled for surgery in 4 weeks. Thanks    — Grace H. (posted on July 19, 2002)

Well I don't think it should post-pone surgery. They should just give you a round of antibiotics and you should be fine. As for the cholesteral....well surgery is going to help that!!! :)
