Question:
what do I do next?
I have done some lab work and have appointments for dietician and physc evaluation in September but I have heard through this website that I will be required to enroll in a weight management class, is this true? Please let me know, I think my PCP is kind of new at this. — REBECCA H. (posted on July 18, 2002)

Two suggestions: Call your Insurance company and ask what is required, or
call the surgeons office and speak to someone on the staf and find out with
the surgeon requires and what the insurance requires. Most of the staff who
handle insurance know what each insurance company requires. Good luck.

Yes, The Weight Mgmt class is a prerequisite. I did it a couple years ago
before even thinking of having surgery. Also, I attended the orientaton at
the hospital a couple months ago and learned a ton of stuff. Many things I
told to my Dr., Psychiatrist & Nutrionist were things they did not
know. Get in good with the staff of the Bariatric Dept. as they are the
people who decide everything and many Docs outside of that dept know very
little about the procedures. Go to www.wildrice.com to find a calendar of
S. San Franciso Kaiser meetings. Good luck!
