Question:
Anyone been skydving?

Hi there..I looked in the library and found only a couple questions about this. I am 5 months post-op and down 112 pounds. For years I have wanted to skydive, but knew I was too big. Now I am not too big and I am seriously wanting to go. Has anyone else post-op skydived, or know of anyone who has, and if it is safe to do it at this point? Thank you!    — Jennifer G. I have never been, but I intend to when I get to goal. I've always wanted to also. There is a place here (in Fl.) about an hour from where I live that does tandem jumps, so you don't have the responsibility of pulling the rip cord... which might be a good thing in case I panic after jumping. :) I plan to do that. I have a co-worker who did it a few years ago and absolutely LOVED it. If you get to it first, let us know how it goes!

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to tell you you're not alone! I have always wanted to skydive also and have always been too heavy! Skydiving is how I will celebrate reaching my goal! Congratulations on your loss and HAVE FUN SKYDIVING!!!

I don't have an answer for you about sky diving but I do have a funny story that was in The Burlington Free Press (big newspaper here in Vermont). Recently a man who always wanted to sky dive did. He took a lesson after telling the instructor that he had false teeth. The instructor said there was no problem, that he should just keep his mouth closed. When the time came for his jump, the man paid an extra $80.00 to have someone jump at the same time who would film his adventure in the air. When the other jumper got pretty close to him and got a close up of the guys face, the guy decided to make a funny face. There on the front page of the paper is this guy, making a funny face, as his teeth are flying out of his mouth!!!! It was so funny!!!!

I love that story! lol. I sure don't know why anyone would want to go through WLS (and all the misery of it) just to turn around and risk their life to sky dive. But to each his own. I know one thing, I'd never attempt to sky dive unless I had a pair of "brown britches" on. Ahem. I almost need them just thinking about it. lol Best of luck to all of you. Follow your dreams! :)
