What is the corrlation between cancer and WLS? Is it true that going into ketosis increases cancer risks?    — k r. (posted on July 16, 2002)

First being MO puts us at risk for cancer, colon cancer is common in MOs. Now ketosis is a temporary thing. After a month or 2 it goes away, so I doubt its a cancer hazard. You know ketosis is over when water tastes normal and your breath quits stinking. My surgeon was asked at a support group meeting and he said cancer was not increased by WLS RNY. Relax, so many health problems go away...
