Question:
Need heavy duty air freshener

Hi everyone, I'm going on a cruise with my husband and 4 boys in 2 weeks. I am planning on enjoying the food while on the cruise. My concern is the size of the cabins in conjunction with my gas odor. I remember someone mentioned something that can be purchased at an auto parts store??? I need recommendations on what to do about this expected gas odor. When not in my room, I can excuse myself and not have a problem. But, I don't want to run my family out of the room!! Help! Shelley    — Shelley. (posted on July 13, 2002)

You may want to try White Barn Candle Company or Bath and Body Works at the mall. They carry a variety of air fresheners that are very small in size(great for traveling)but very big on freshening.

I believe its called (sp) Ozium. Can buy it at carwash or walmarts. I also like the Fabreeze spray. I know it's for fabric but I like to spray it around for it has a nice smell. Buy it and try it at home before your trip.

For odor control, try going to vitalady.com. She sells citrus air fresheners in purse size, and larger. I am pre-op, but am stocking up on some for use at work. Enjoy your cruise!!

Hi. Ozium is good. Also, there is a special, extra-duty air freshener that hospitals use for ostomy patients' rooms. Call your nearest hospital and ask. I brought some home after a different surgery and it really works well. Sorry , I can't remember the name of it. Good luck and Bon Voyage!

Hi Shelly, I can relate because last year my hubby and I went on an Alaskan cruise on Princess lines. This cruise line has numerous rooms with private balconies and we had that. You can open the door (unless there are gale force winds and storms which we had one night!) and get fresh air that way. Try to get a room with a balcony if possible. It doesn't cost very much to update to that and it is great! The balconies are small with just enough room for two chairs and a little table. Have a sliding glass door. I think the balcony increased our enjoyment a lot on our cruise. You won't be spending a lot of time in your room with everything there is to do. The food is loaded with carbs and fat and this is what causes me gas. You can get low fat though and even sugar free desserts. If none of this is helpful, I recommend a little spray that Lowes sells called Orange Squeeze by California Scents. It is small little spray can that is powerful for 24 hours! It smells like citus or orange. It is 100% natural and non-Aerosol spray (so it won't explode in your suitcase if you are flying to your departure port). Bon voyage! You will have a great time! Wish I were going! Where is your destination?

HELP! I'm still pre-op (Aug 5) and had read about increased gas, but didn't realize it would be so odorous. How long does it last? I teach middle schoolers - is this going to be an issue?!!??
