Question:
I am having my abdominoplasty on Monday and would like it if ya'll could keep me in
your thoughts. I think the well wishes of those on this site helped me get through my revision last year. Also, any last minute advice from those who have undergone this procedure. I am having the anchor cut. Thanks for your help! — Michele :. (posted on July 11, 2002)

Congrats on getting a newer, flat tummy! I don't believe I've ever had a
flat belly, in my whole life. I bet once you are healed, it will be great.
How exciting! :o) [10 weeks post-op, down 56 pounds.]

Hi! I just had abdominoplasty on 7/2. It was much less painful than I had
anticipated and healing is going much quicker. My drains came out one week
after the surgery, and if I feel up to it, I am allowed to drive myself to
my 2 week visit. I never did use any of the pain medication at home, just
tylenol, but while in the hospital, I made sure to push my pain med button
often to keep ahead of the pain. I guess my surgeon (Dr. Born) is really
good because the whole experience was so much easier than I had
anticipated. I hope your surgery goes as well and in a couple of months we
will both have much smaller tummies. Jill

I had my tummy tuck (anchor incision) and armlift in November, and couldn't
be more pleased with my results! For the first time in my life, my tummy
is completely flat and firm....and the arms are just beautiful! I was one
of those "unfortunate" apple-shaped people who carried a lot of
excess weight in my upper abdomen. The anchor incision took all that away,
and by pulling the skin in from the sides toward the middle, gave me a
really great, sleek look to my back and ribcage area. My surgeon didn't
use any external sutures or staples, so I just have a thin red line from
breastbone to pubic area, then another "smiley-face" line from
hip to hip. These are quickly fading and within the next year should just
be thin white lines....I have had stretch marks worse than this :-) I had
four drains at the base of my abdomen post-op. The first two were removed
two weeks after surgery, the third was removed on the third week, but the
last one stayed in seven weeks. My surgeon said that that was unusual, but
no unheard of. Everyone's experiences may vary, but this surgery was the
least painful surgery I have ever had (what a surprise, considering the
large incisions!!), and the drains were completely painless, even during
removal. I was back at work, full-time, in two weeks....and felt well
enough to have gone back in one! All in all, it was a great decision and a
great result for me. I wish you the same!!
