Your hospital, where you'll be having your surgery, should have them for
you already. I never asked about a larger gown, and on the day of my
surgery, there was one waiting for me.

Probably at a medical supply store in your area, but if you are concerned
about being covered in the hospital, DON'T-a true, bariatric hospital will
have just the type of gown that you will need or they can improvise. Check
out the www.

The hospital where you are having your surgery will provide you with the
gown. Good luck!

I would suggest if possible you ask them to let you keep a spare on hand. I
was in the hospital 10 days and was constantly wanting my gown changed - my
feeding tube leaked out on it, or I would mess it up going to the bathroom,
etc. My husband kept having to hunt down a change-of-gown for me.

At a large hospital! LOL ;) If you're wanting a gown to take home, ask the
staff. They should be able to accommodate you, or tell you where you can
find them.

I would not depend on the hospital to have a large enough gown. Mine
didn't I bought a 5x gowm from amplestuff.com actually I bought 3 so I
could change once a day. I weighed
333lbs and I'm 5'2. The gown went to my ankles and there was no gap by my
butt. I felt well covered. wait until you are already in your room before
you put it on because they will toss it in the hospital laundry as soon as
you are wheeled into surgery and you won't be seeing it again. I know I
only wore them once but I felt like it was worth it because they get you up
and walking the hallways as soon as possible and I felt sorry for the other
bypass patient that had to wear two of the regular sized gowns and still
her butt was hanging in the wind. Good luck to you it was the best thing I
ever did for myself.

Don't make this something you need to worry about. Call the post-surgical
ward at your hospital and ask them specifically if they are prepared for
you. This includes wheelchairs, beds, and gowns. I am envious of the
bariatric center patients who had all of these luxuries and more. I was
just a patient in a regular hospital and I could take nothing for granted.
Had I known I could buy one I would have done it years ago and taken it to
every doctor's appointment I ever had. Good luck, God Bless.

Hopefully your clinic/hospital will have a gown to fit you. Meanwhile,
there is a website called <amplestuff.com> that sells all types of
large-sized items; from extra-large umbrellas to oversized fanny packs to
scales that can weigh folks up to 500 lbs. This company (to which I have
NO connection other than as a consumer) offers hospital gowns in size 3X
(for bodies less than 62" around at any spot), size 5X
(62"-70" around), and 8X (62'-78" around) and 10X(larger
than 70" around at any point.) The gowns are made of a cotton/poly
blend, are mid-calf length on a 5'7" person and have regular sleeves
or snap sleeves for IV's. All gowns cost $39.95 with a discount when you
buy 2 gowns. I have not seen or worn these gowns , but they might be just
what you are looking for. Hope this helps! rt

I went in weighing 357 and I have a few hospital items your more than
welcome to. Email me if your interested. The hospital will have a gown
large enough to fit you - if the hospital does this surgery, they know what
to expect. Your weight, by far, is the largest that your surgeon has done
- I can almost guarantee you that. I do have clothes for coming home from
the hospital - house dresses and lounging pajama's and also a silk set I
used while in the hospital - let me know if you want them and I'll get them
in the mail. () : )

I had my surgery done last year at Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake City.
I was very impressed at how prepared they were to handle my girth, i.e.
large hospital gowns, large wheeldchairs, reclining bariatric beds, etc.
COMFORTABLE!!!
