Question:
Bruises, Bruises, Everywhere!
I am 4 months post-op down 86 pounds, the last time I had my labs done was about 1.5 months ago. All was fine. I take a multi vite with iron every day, as well as calcium, bitoin, b-12. I feel like everytime I turn around I have a new bruise. Legs, arms, head...everywhere! I don't recall bumping myself this much. What's going on??? — PaulaM (posted on June 18, 2002)

The problem was once explained to me this way... when we are fat, our body
develops capillaries to supply the "excess" area with blood. When
we lose that fat, we still have the capillaries and they are now close to
the surface. So, we do bruise easily. It was also said that our body
resorbs what it doesn't need over time and the situation will eventually
get better. Hope this helps. Shelley

I had the same problem, I seen my doctor and he said I needed to increase
my vit.K. Eat more green leafy vegs, since doing this the brusing has
stopped. Good luck, hope this helps.

I had the same problem. My blood results say that I'm mildly anemic and my
potassium is low. I've been taking potassium twice a day and I've noticed
the bruising has stopped. My doctor says it has no correlation but it
seems strange that the bruising has went away since I've been taking the
potassium.

I dont think i know the anwser to your question, but I just wanted you to
know that iam one year out and this is a constant problem for me. When I
was three hundred pounds, i never saw a bruise, (now that could be because
I could not see over my belly, or it could be due to the fact that I was so
inactive that I had no reason to bruise,) but today at 130 pounds I have
bruises, bruises everywhere. Some of them are explainable like hitting my
leg or something, but most of the time they just magicaly appear !!! Good
luck..
