Question:
I am only having BMs every 3-4 days at 3mos post-op....
Does this mean I'm not eating enough? I rarely have diarrhea or constipation..it's just that my bathroom visits aren't as often as I would have imagined. Also, my weight loss has been pretty slow. Is this normal? — Jennifer C (posted on June 14, 2002)

Ihave 2-3 BM every day and am still losing very slowly. I guess each of us
is different. Who decides what is normal?

I have the same problem, I had my surgery April 10, 2002 I weight 228 I'm
down to 193lbs. I have been wondering if I'm eating right. My bm are about
to same as yours. Every 3-4 days. I have been reading some of the other
posts and found that the higher you bmi or your weight is the faster you
lose. So I think we should be little patient, I don't think losing weight
at a fast speed is health for us. If we lose it slowly it's better on ower
body system. Most of the personal comments that I have read reach their
ideal weight in one year.

Hi. I'm in the same boat with you also. I have a BM every 4 days. Since
we're being honest, I have to strain to go. I noticed that if I up my water
intake and drink a glass of 50-50 prune juice and water along with a stole
softener I have an easier time. So....I believe this to be normal for alot
of posties. We really aren't eating enough to have them every day. 2 months
post-op down 36lbs.

Hi!
I am 23 weeks post op and have had problems with BM's since day one. I took
stool softners, fiber pills and nothing helped. I have recently begun
eating lettuce again and things have gotten better. I am now going
everyday. My surgeon did recommend raw vegetables to help with this. Ask
your surgeon to be sure if you are allowed to eat these yet. Tracy

Jennifer, most of us do have less as we are eating less. However, I have
found that if I eat popcorn, and fruit, it seems to speed the process
along!
