Question:
I need to do a bowel prep. the night before surgery.
Like there is any good tasting bowel prep. Anyway I gag at the thought of the magnesium citrate. I was supposed to drink 2 before a previous surgery and barely got 1 down. Which tastes better? Fleets Phospho-Soda, magnesium ctrate or Go-Lytely? HELP! — Cinna G. (posted on June 2, 2002)

Last time I had to do a bowel prep, for a colonoscopy, the doctor made me
do basically a whole bottle of the Fleet Phospho Soda mixed with Ginger
Ale, gradually over about a 2 hour period. I couldn't even taste the
medication. I would however, consult with your doctor before mixing
anything in with whatever bowel prep he/she gives you. You don't want to
wake up from anesthesia barfing your toenails up.

I don't think either tastes too good. I guess the phospo-soda is least bad
:)!! When you take them stay at home and reserve the bathroom for yourself,
because you will be spending alot of time in it :) good luck

You could try mixing it with 7up I saw a girl preping for surgery do the
same thing and she seemed to get it down easyer. It didn't harm anything to
drink a little 7up with the prep because it just came out anyways.

My surgeon's assistant recommended getting the mag citrate very cold then
using a straw to get it as far back in your mouth as possible. I got mine
down in about five minutes that way. Good luck.

I did the Fleets Phospho-Soda and it's a lot less amount than the other
stuff so I was pleased with it. I just downed it like a shot of cheap
whiskey. If you want, you can read my profile on other tips for the bowel
prep - look on or around the April 9th, 2002 date if your interested.
