Question:
I am 11 days post op lap RNY followed by an exploratory lap 16 hours later for bleed.
I was have been home for 5 days. I am in excruitating pain whenever I try to get out of bed or out of a chair. It's like someone sticking a knife into me at 2 of my scope points. I am still taking heavy pain medication which scares me. Has anyone else experienced such pain post lap RNY? Any hints for pain control? — Diane L. (posted on May 31, 2002)

Hi Diane - I'm glad to hear your on you way to recovering. I know some of
the strange pains we feel post-op can be scary. First off, I think you
should ask your surgeon about the pain. I know that the most painful of my
6 LAP incisions was the scope site. It stung and burned off and on for a
few weeks but then once the muscle tissue underneath healed it was fine. I
hope this helps and hang in there. It will get better very soon :-)

Hi Diane. I had lap RNY on May 1 and I still have severe incisional pain.
My surgeon said that it will eventually go away. I am still on pain meds,
but I do feel better each day. The pain does lessen. Good Luck. -30lbs.
