Have you checked out the Yahoo group OSSG-Revision
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-Revision)? There you can read the
stories of many WLS post-ops who have had or are planning revisions to
their surgeries. Parenthetically, it's also a great place for pre-ops who
are planning purely restrictive surgeries (such as the VBG or vertical
banded gastroplasty; the AGB, or adjustable gastric band; and Hazem
Elariny's sleeve gastrectomy, vertical gastrectomy, or VG) to get some
insight into whether they really should forgo the assistance of
malabsorption.

I had vgb in 1985 and lost about 80 lbs after that. I looked and felt
wonderful. Activity was possible and I began weight training. At some point
during the weight training phase, I popped the staples. Within 2 years, I
weighed as much as I did before if not more. I had a revision to rny
proximal in Dec., 2001. It has made a significant difference in my life and
my quality of life. I am a slow loser, but I am not complaining. I feel so
much better and happier now. Have my moments just like everyone else, but I
would do it again in a heartbeat.

Tricia, I just had revision (RNY) of VBG from 1992 on 4/10/02, in six weeks
I am down 40 pounds. It sounds great, but I am nervous. I lost 31 of it in
the first 2 weeks...this past month has been really slow. I unerstand your
concerns because I probably have the same ones. Email me so we can talk
about it one on one....I could really use the interaction with others who
have had revision or are planning a revision.
