Question:
Can someone tell me again about the water????
I know we're not supposed to drink anything 30 min before or after we eat. But is the before so that we won't get full on water? or is there another reason. Also, for after, is it because the water will push the food in the pouch out too quickly? if so, what would happen? I really need a detailed explanation if someone knows. Thanks — Peggy D. Here is my understanding of the rule. The reason we shouldn't drink 30
minutes before is to make sure our pouch is empty so it has room for our
meal. The reason we have to wait 30 minutes after is to make sure the
water doesn't push the food through the pouch too quickly.

Someone asked my surgeon the same question at our support group on Tuesday.
He said that drinking while we are eating will flush the food out of the
pouch faster. So if it isn't staying in the pouch, it's getting digested
and you will probably feel hungry a lot sooner. Hope this helps! =)

I was just in to see the Doctors nurse she said if you drink water right
after you eat you will throw up, because you will be putting water on the
top of the food and it will come up food and all. she also said sip your
water, gulping your fluids may result in pain and discomfort.

I drink up to the first bite of food to stay hydrated. Except for about 2
oz of water ( left alone unless food is hot or choking), I don't drink for
30 min after. Gives the food a chance to sit, make me feel satisfied. And
if I get silly and drink too soon, I will feel promptly miserable.
