Question:
Can you have two or more strictures?
I am two months post-op Lap RNY and I hada stricture dilated 16days ago. Today I am getting the same symptoms I had previously. Is it possible to need to be dilated again in such a short timeframe? — Lynn R. (posted on May 3, 2002)

Absolutely! It's not common, but it's not by any means unusual! I had
two, thought I was coming down with a 3rd one, but an endoscopy proved
otherwise. A super nice lady, Tica Gomez, is having her 3rd stricture
dialated today! We like to joke that the more problems you have, the
better your success will be...it helps when you're going through hard
times!

Hi there, I had 2 strictures dilated. And within a week apart. After
going through it the first time, you just know what is happening the second
time around. I thought I was closing up a third time, but they had me wait
it out since it was only causing some pain, and I wasn't vomiting yet. It
evenutally opened up a little and was able to tolerate more as the days
went by. Don't feel bad about contacting your surgeon for a second
'go-round'. It is common for it to happen twice. Not common to happen 3
times though. I hope you feel better, strictures can be a big pain!

Yes! I am 8 weeks (Monday) out and I have been dilated twice. I saw the
surgeon today and he said since I have not had any symptons of a stricture
for almost 2 weeks (Tuesday) that will leave it alone. I can tell you that
I can eat much better and don't have the nausea. It is definately worth
getting this fixed right away. Good Luck.

I forgot to add that my dilations were two weeks apart...one April 9th and
the second April 23rd.

Hate to tell you this but.... I am 13 weeks post op and had my 4th
dialation yesterday! Each one has been two weeks apart and there doesn't
seem to be any chance of slowing down yet! I talked to someone in the
chatroom that had 13 dialations before it stopped! doesnt that SUCK!!!
