Question:
Hi, I am 1 yr post-op

Hello I am 1 yr post-op and I have been getting bad headaches everyday, a few times a day. Sometimes it is after I eat and sometimes it makes me sick. Does anyone know what it could be? I thought it was allergies at first, but my sinuses are fine. What else could it be? Open RNY 04/12/01 -142lbs.    — lynbaby B. (posted on April 30, 2002)

Have you checked your blood sugar? I am diabetic and anytime my blood sugar drops too low I have a headache. A REALLY bad headache.

Water? Lots? I'm a water slacker and get dull headaches when I'm truly stupid from the dehydration. Are all your other lab values in perfect order? You're seeing them with your own eyes? Potassium is mid-range and all that?

Truly I thought it was jus me, But do we really get "stupid" when we go without water? I notice my self making more mistakes than usual when I didnt have enough water, and I do find small headaches as well effect me too.

I am also a year out. I have noticed that I am also getting headaches. Most of my headaches occur on the weekends when I spend more time with family and friends. Last weekend I kept track of what I was eating. As it turns out, there was more sugar in my diet. I am thinking that I may be having mild cases of "dumping". Certain foods seem to hit me harder even if they do not contain as much sugar. For example, I seem to get the mild dumping when I drink milk. Hope it all works out for you. Good luck.
