Hi, Vicki - have you tried a modified Atkins induction diet? Try a low fat version of the no carb diet for a few weeks - notwithstanding the fact the the good Dr. Atkins recently had a heart attack, the low fat version for a short period might do the trick! I wonder why your surgeon requires a significant wgt loss before meeting w/you to discuss a surgery which is designed for people who CANNOT loose or maintain wgt loss? HMMMM - Best of luck, Jean

I was supposed to loose weight before my operation. I did not I gained (last supper syndrom). It would be nice to do and you will make the surgery MUCH eaiser for all DRs involved. But if I could loose weight on my own I wouldn't need wls, --- Good Luck

A few years back my doctor wanted me to try the Atkins Diet. Well I gave it a great whirl but could'nt live on so low carbs. I'd kill for mash potatoes and bread! Anyway I decided to try the "Carbohydrates Addict Diet". That was well ballanced and I lost 25 pounds in 12 days!!! After that I could'nt lose anymore. And I did try it other times too. Personally I'm thinking of doing it again now that I've had the WLS. (I pretty much quit losing at 6 months so I'm desparate now). Perhaps if you try it you will also lose all that weight fast. It's an idea and this diet "does'nt make you sick". I'd rather be 319 again than to ever have to try to live by the Atkins Diet. Do the CARBOHYDRATES ADDICT DIET. That one is great. Good luck! http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/

ORIGINAL POSTER HERE...thanks for the suggestions, i'll look ito the carb addicts diet and the low fat version of the atkins. i told the dr's and the shrink that i understood why they require you to lose 10% of your weight prior to surgery (but just between me,you, and the fence post) i think it sucks.
