Question:
Does anyone know when it is best to have a tummy tuck if you want to have children?

I'm not totally ready to have a tummy tuck yet, but I am about 50 lbs from goal and have started thnking whether I need it of not and when the best time to have it is. I have a lot of fat on my stomach still. But, anyway, my main question is this: Should you wait to have a tummy tuck until after you have children? I still not married, but intend to be married in the next few years and then want to have two more children. Should I wait until after this to have a tt or can I have one before and still have a baby without needing to get ANOTHER tt? This is a real concern for me. I don't want to go around with this huge stomach, but I don't want to have the tt, only to need another one later after babies. Please help! I need information.    — Michele :. Hi Michele ... I know Carne Wilson recently had a TT and she plans to have children in the future. In her book, she says that the weight gain for pregnant post-ops is much less than you would "normally" gain. My "normal" weight gain for my first child was 60 lbs so I am hoping that after WLS if we decide to have another child, I will only gain what is "normal" for "normal" people, such as 25-30 lbs. I am scheduled for WLS in a few days, April 24, 2002. I am open to TT if my skin doesn't shrink down in a year or two. I've also read working out with weights can help the skin shrink down better. Good luck with your decision!

I see some of your point, but Carnie Wilson probably has enough money to do a tt again if it gets ruined after pregnancy. I don't, and that's my predicament. Good luck on your surgery!!!!

I forgot to add this: I have done major ab work before and done okay on this area, but have always had a stomach to some extent. I totally believe in working out lifting weights and I do this for my legs, but when I even try to do simple crunches I have a burning and pain along my scar. It's very uncomfortable and I'm scared I can't do the extreme work needed to try to get rid of this belly. I can't even do 10 crunches!

Its really up to you. Must surgeons says it best to wait till after the kids or youll just want to have it done again. But then again maybe you want a new stomach now and dont really care after you have kids. I cant decide either.
