Question:
Can I have some opinions on what people use and prefer with their protein drinks.
I have recently heard that using milk to mix your shakes will hold your weight. Is this true even if it's skim? If you are succesful using milk or have other suggestions please let me know. Thanks. — Tammy B. (posted on April 14, 2002)

I don't know if using milk will affect weight loss - although it does have
sugars (lactose) and calories. I drink milk (in my lattes). But with my
protein shake, I use water. I drink ProComplex (GNC) and love it! I use
the chocolate kind...mix it up real good and serve it over ice. It's
delicious - and best really cold. My DH likes it so much he drinks it, too
(of course, he uses milk!)
Best of luck to you. Open RNY 7/17/01, -90 lbs

I use Zero Carb Isoure for my shakes and I mix them with just 1/2 cup of
skim milk... I measure it because I dont want to use an excess of milk
because of the sugars. On occasions that I have been out of milk, I have
used both vanilla soy milk and water and there is little taste difference.
That is why I love Isopure, the taste is a great base for delicious drinks.
I am 10 months post op and am 11 pounds from my goal. I have had a shake
every day since my surgery.

Tammy, I am pre-op and i have found a great protein drink that i want to
use after my surgery. it is called CytoPro and it tastes great with milk or
water. Though from what i read from people here is that our tastes and
will change postop. So something that tastes good before surgery might not
be tolerable afterward. I think it is best to have a few different types
of protein supplements on hand in small amounts to try before committing
yourself to full containers of them. They can be expensive! Best of Luck
to you.

This is an excellent resource for which proteins mix well with what.
