Question:
A WLS friendly OB/GYN in Jacksonville, FL?

I am 6 months post-op and know that within a year, I want to try to become pregnant. I need to have my annual exam now and wanted to know if anyone knows of a WLS supportive OB/GYN in the Jacksonville, FL area? Thank you!    — Teresa H. (posted on April 11, 2002)

Thank you Sandra! I did think of that, but I actually drove out of town to have my WLS and was looking for someone in the Jacksonville area. Any input would be great.

Teresa, Please rethink about having a baby so soon after surgery. My doctor recomends waiting till at least 18 months post op. He says you run a bigger chance of having a miscarrage early on, deformities, retardation, or low birth weight. Your body need to have this time to adjust to your new body, matabolism, etc before it can safely handle a pregency. Best of luck to you. sandy

Sandy, thank you so much for the concern, but I see now where my post might have been mistaken. I do plan on waiting 18 months; I just need an exam and wanted to establish myself with a doctor that I could go to when I was ready to have a baby. Thank you though!
