Question:
Has anyone used Dr. Raphael Capella for Lap surgery?

I am interested in possibly seeing Dr. Raphael Capella in Hackensack hospital. I have read mostly about him performing open RNY. Has anyone had LAP surgery with this doctor?    — Marie W. (posted on April 8, 2002)

Wasn't that the doctor on 20/20? I don't know much about him, but I know that www.drcapella.com has some WONDERFUL pictues of before/after plastic surgery on weight loss patients. The older fella is the weight loss surgeon and his son is the plastic surgeon.

I don't believe Dr. Capella does lap surgery. He also doesn't do a straight RNY, he does a combo RNY/VBG surgery. I'm not sure of the specifics, but I know he uses a band.

Dr. Capella does not do Lap RNY, only open either the typical incision or a bikini line incision (this particular incision is considered cosmetic and is an out of pocket expense, and it combined with a tummy tuck). He does do the combination of the VBG/RNY. It is best to go to one of his seminars, they are very informative. He tells you the differences between the Lap and Open and the negative/positive benefits of each. I will be getting surgery by him at Hackensack on 4/25. 17 days to go!
