Question:
I have Multiplan insurance....do I require a pcp referral?

I'm a little confused with insurance issues. If a bariatric surgeon is in my network, do I have to have a pcp referral, or can I contact the surgeon directly? Most surgeons advertise for you to see them if you feel you are a candidate. I can't seem to get a straight answer. Thanks!    — Marie W. (posted on April 4, 2002)

I do not have to have a referral. I made my appt. yesterday with the surgeon. and she is in my network. sometimes it is a lot faster and easier to cut out the middle man. Good luck.
