Question:
I am almost 4 weeks post op and I can still only take small sips
at a time with out it hurting, is this normal? How long until I can drink faster? Not being able to drink fast makes it almost impossible to get all my fluids in. — APRIL P. (posted on April 3, 2002)

I'm 7 weeks out and it started to get a lot better with each passing week
if not day. Now I can guzzle water...well it feels like guzzling after all
that sipping and air bubble stuff. Everything improves with time..it really
does.

I'm 3 weeks out and can do a bit more than sip now. Take your time with
it.

You would be so surprised at what you can do months after your surgery.
I'm a year post-op April 10th...I can eat better...and drinking is no
different then it was before surgery. I feel wonderful!! Things do get
better...believe me. I wondered myself for a while after. Sometimes I
even regretted the surgery...not anymore. I'm a few pounds away from goal!
I've lost 110 lbs in a little less then a year! YES!!! Good luck and god
bless!!

Sounds like you are an "air swallower" like me. I'm 3 weeks post
op and am having the same problems. I've done better with either drinking
from a straw or by sipping from a water bottle with a pop-up cap. It seems
I don't get as much air in my stomach that way. Don't know about you, but I
burp a LOT!
