Question:
My doc doesn't think it's my gallbladder, but what else could this pain be?
I went to the ER last friday due to pain that started in my left side, but quickly became my whole upper abdominal area, chest, and back. The pain was constant and very intense. It lasted an hour and then stopped. The ER doctor ran some blood work and said it wasn't my gallbladder based on the results. He gave me prilosec and sent me on my way. I saw my primary doctor monday, and she said that she feels it's not my gallbladder either due to the bloodwork. I didn't realize that gallstones could be detected by a bloodtest, I thought it was usually detected through an ultrasound. She is sending me for an upper GI and a small bowel series xray. Thankfully, the intense pain has not returned, but I have had some discomfort in the abdominal area along with a bloated feeling since last friday. I am very concerned and I am just curious if anyone out there has had a similar experience or has any other ideas what this could be. Thanks for any help!! — Melissa L. (posted on March 27, 2002)

Hi
I had the same problem and I went through every test known to man and
nothing showed up. The pain was unbearable. When I went for WLS they told
me I had an enlarged liver and gallbladder but no stones. They told me they
were rubbing together causing pain. Since surgery I havent hurt once.

Gall bladder pain starts in the middle front, under the breasts near the
breast bone then goes around the right to the middle of the back. This is
how my pain started and stopped each and every time until I had my gall
bladder out.
