Question:
I am almost 1 month post op .... I havent worked since
Last August and have been paying Cobra which is $300 a month! Ouch!! Now that my surgery is over and I am going to start looking for a job. I'm confused about new insurance. If I get new insurance will they consider any follow up visits to my dr a pre existing condition and they wont be covered? — Summersect (posted on March 17, 2002)

No it will NOIT be preexisting as long as you have insurance continiously
and seemlessely. So dont drop Cobra for any reason.

If you are still a COBRA recipitent, then you will be given a HIPPA form
which is just a document that states you were on group insurance along with
the dates. All insurance is subject to state regulations. I am a Licensed
Life and Health Broker in the state of CT. My state's Health Ins law is
written so that there is what is called "Guarantee Issue" on HMO
or group products. Therefore any member of a group would HAVE to be covered
by the groups employer REGaRDLESS OF HEALTH STATUS OR PRE-EXISTING
conditions. As far as Individual Plans, these are much tougher to get and
the insurance company can rate, exclude or deny you coverage. The best bet
would be to become employed by a company that has group benefits and read
and ask questions if you do not understand their benefits.

Hi I just wanted to let you know that I pay 400.00 a month for insurance
just for myself. Since I am self-employed this is the only insurance that
I was able to get. So consider yourself lucky that you only had to pay
$300.00. I hope when all my appointments are done, that they approved me
for sugery.
