Question:
Is jaw tension a sign that I need more food?
I have been experiencing jaw tension for awhile and just now I read that it is a sign of not enough food. Is that true? Anybody else experience that? Thanks. — Ella P. (posted on March 8, 2002)

My guess that it would be because you are grinding your teeth at night.
What you are feeling is your TMJ (temporomandibular joint). Many people do
carry stress in their TMJ and/or dont know they are grinding their teeth at
night. Dentists make a mouth guard to prevent teeth grinding that you wear
at night. Good luck!

I'm not expert, however I had this problem pre-op when I was getting tons
of food.

I get jaw stress (TMJ) when I'm stressed out. The first time was when I
spent a week with my mother! I also experienced this during the time I was
waiting for surgery approval and then the date. Its stress. My
chiropractor fixed me right up. I haven't had it since my surgery.
