Question:
Will gas be a problem for me?
If my Roux-Limb is 150cm.... Will I have to worry about that awful smelly gas I have been hearing about? Please help! If that is the case, my doctor and I will have to discuss wether or not he can do a proimal instead. Thanks! — Sandra C. (posted on March 7, 2002)

I think that most people have a problem with Gas. As far as smelly, Mine is
usually not smelly, just VERY abundant. depends on what I eat, but most of
the time my BM's do not smell as horrible as they did Pre-op. Although
there is more of it, I definately like the gas now than before surgery.

I don't have a problem with gas, at least not any more than preop. I have
always eaten and enjoyed high fiber foods and veggies but eventually the
body gets used to added foods. After liquids, when I started adding more
fiberous foods I did get some gas, but my body has adjusted and it's no
longer a problem.

For me at least, gas seems to be related to how many carbs I eat. If I am
good and stick to high protein low carbs, I am just fine. If I eat more
carbs than I should.... I feel like I could open my own Texaco franchise.
