Question:
Any ideas on a GENTLE way to remove surgical tape residue from my still tender skin?

Try peanut butter....Smear some on the spot (btw -- not on open wounds
guys)and let it sit a bit and rub gently. It may remove it. Time actually
will do it better though as our body is continually losing dead skin, it
will come off eventually with the skin cells. Good luck to you!

My doc suggested nail polish remover, it worked like a charm & didn't
burn at all like I expected it to :)

My skin is extremely sensitive to adhesives. Fortunately, I showed my
surgeon the areas of my wound that had little pieces of adhesive gunk still
stuck on them, and he had his nurse clean me up with some special
"adhesive remover." I'm sure, since it exists, you should be
able to find it at your local pharmacy.

There is a product that is stocked in most hospitals that will remove that
orange betadine scrub stickiness and tape residue. It is called lotion
remover.

Baby oil or nail polish remover, but if your really sensitive, I would try
the baby oil first, the alcohol in the nail polish might irritate you.
Hope this helps! :)

Mine wore off after a few weeks. I did not really care on way or the other
that I had sticky residue on me. I had other things to worry about... Pain,
vomiting, eating, drinking, sleeping comfortably. I didn't sweat the small
stuff. It will wear off on it's own. also good ole soap, and water in the
shower helped a little.

I used Avon's Skin-So-Soft. It worked great, smelled good and left my skin
nice and soft. You could also try Alpha Keri Bath Oil and the baby oil
suggestion.

I couldn't get mine off and it caused such a severe skin rash, that at 6
weeks post op it is still going strong. I am a skin care therapist and
have used several topical steroids, it's still there. Of course, I hope
you get it off before this happens. I am just posting because I didn't
care about anything like that when I was recovering and now I am paying for
it.

If it were me, I wouldn't use any alcohol based products as they tend to be
drying....I think the oil is a good idea. I personally used Nutragena Body
oil which is sweet almond oil.

Rubbing alcohol and cotton balls! I'm 2 wks post-op, and spent much of my
recovery time dealing with this lol. Put some lotion on afterward though
to keep the alcohol from drying your skin :).
