Question:
Does anyone know if it cost an employer to have an exclusion removed from the policy?
I have a exclusion on my policy that you can not have the WLS even if it is medically needed. I was just wondering how most employers are to react to this question of them removing the exclusion. Anyone have any answers. You can also e-mail me [email protected] Thanks! — Laurie W. (posted on March 3, 2002)

It's been about 15 years since I worked in the insurance department of a
major corporation but this is what the story was then. We negotiated our
health insurance policy on an annual basis. After arriving at a cost we
could afford and the coverage we wanted, we signed a contract with the
insurance company that was good for one year. Any changes we made to the
policy during that year cost us a penalty. I can't quote you exactly what
the cost was, sorry, I honestly don't remember. I have a vague memory of
it being a relatively substantial $ amount though. Now, like I said, this
was 15 years ago and things may be done differently now. Good luck!
