Question:
I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy and a tummy tuck 3 April 2002
I would also like to have a breast lift at the same time. I am concerned that this may be too much at one time. If anyone has undergone this please let me know about your recovery period. I am planning on taking four to six weeks off from work. Another concern is that on May 17th I am scheduled for a nine hour or so flight from Germany to the west coast. Is this too soon to travel? Should I cancel the trip? Please advise. Thanks all. — Teresa G. (posted on February 28, 2002)

Hi there !! Congrats on the surgeries - must mean you've done fantastic on
the weight loss...good for you !! My surgery date isn't until the 9th of
April, 2002, it will be here before we know it.
I use to work in Same Day Surgery and Same Day Surgery Admits (staying
longer lengths than just overnight) and can tell you that you should
probably talk to your doctor who knows your body and can tell you how much
your body should be able to handle or not handle. I can tell you from
personal experience....I don't know if your having your hysterectomy
abdominally or vaginally but either way, your stitched up. Might be on the
inside or the outside but it's a major surgery. I was 29 years old when I
had mine and it was pretty difficult getting the energy back. Taking a
shower was a pretty hard task. It didn't take me a full 6-weeks to
recover, in fact, I was feeling pretty good after a good 14 - 21 days but
you say your having this AND a tummy tuck. Sounds like you'll have a lot
on your platter if you take on yet another. If I were you, I'd wait and do
that later...you've worked far too hard to get to feeling better and
healing properly with the weight and the medical problems the obesity
brings with it to have something go wrong now. Give your body the time it
needs to heal properly and continue to build it strong. I bet you look
absolutely beautiful right now. One day at a time...one step at a time
would be my advice.
Best of Blessings To You !!
