Question:
Start at 5'5, 240 pounds, what was your loss like?
I would love to hear from anyone who started at about 5'5" and 240 pounds, apple shape (if that helps). How was your loss at about 3 months post-op? Were you up for a trip about 3 months post-op (driving 5-6 hours)? Thanks for being willing to share! — [Anonymous] (posted on February 26, 2002)

Hi there. I am 5'4" and started at 240. At 3 months I was great --
150% at least! I had lap RNY though so if you are having open it might be
different. I was back at work in two weeks and out for New Year's Eve at
four weeks. At three months you should be doing great!

I'm 5'4" and started at 259. At three months, I had lost an even 50
lbs, 22.5 inches, and 4 sizes. Month 4 is coming up and I can't wait to
weigh in. Now when was the last time you heard a non-wls person say THAT?
I've made several multi-hour car trips since then, the first one being the
ride home from the hospital. I had my surgery on Monday, was released from
the hospital on Wednesday, and rode home 4 hours from Richmond to
Baltimore. (Don't tell my doc - he thinks i stayed the weekend in Richmond
;-)

I am 5'5 and start at 265
I am 16 months out
11-1-00
weight 145
-120
at 3 months out I was
around
55 lbs down
I felt great
still tired sometimes
but that lasted for 1 year
I could have gone on a trip
infact we went to Disney land and had a blast
I could walk all day with no pains
but finding something to eat there was hard
everything seemed to have sugar
or it was red meat and that makes me sick
Go have fun

I am 5'4" and started at 272. I'm 53 years old. At 15 weeks I am at
198 (74 lbs. lost) and have lost 51.75 inches. Took my first trip of 3
hrs. each way at 2 weeks and 6 hrs. each way at 6 weeks. Had no problems.
Even ate out--soup is always a good choice. Started in a tight 26 slacks
and 3X top. Now wearing size 16 slacks ( getting baggy) and XL tops. You
just have to decide how you feel and go from there. Of course, you should
listen to your surgeon, and stop to walk every hour or so.

I was measured at 5'5 1/2" and weighed 243 at the time of my surgery
on Sept. 27th last year. By Thanksgiving (two months later) I had lost
about 60 pounds & was able to travel by car to my grandparents, 8 hours
away :)

Hi
I am 7 months post op . I had surgery on July 12 and I was 5'3 223. I am
now 128. I was a size 20-22 and I am a size 4-5. It is incredible to
experience and watch the weight loss. I would say that at 3 months you
should be fine driving. The hardest was the first month. I am still
carefull though after all these months as to what i lift. I work out every
day but I recently moved and lifting the heavy boxes gave me pain in my
stomach so be careful. If you want to talk please feel free to email me. My
email is [email protected]. Do you have a surgery date?

I was 5'4 and weighed 244 pounds and now I am 7 months post op and weigh
between 150-154. I wish I would have lost more, but that is my own fault.
No longer dump and taking advantage of it unfortunaly. I don't know about
traveling, but by 3 months post op I was tired all of the time, not too
sore though. Good luck
