Question:
Need suggestions for Protein Drinks recommended by those who have done liquid diets

I really hated that liquid diet I was on a few years back. It was like optifast. The smell of many of those protien drinks now makes me want to gag. I know many of you have done those liquid diets too... can you tell me what brands and types of protien powders you have found and tolerate the best? Thanks :)    — Kym L. I am still pre-op, but I found a liquid protein drink at wal-mart that is not bad. It is called carb solutions. I have tried the chocolate and my friend has tried the vanilla and both fairly tasty.Good luck.

Hi! A friend of mine had surgery 4 wks ago and went through the struggle of finding a protein that was tolerable. She found: Sure Pro from GNC. If they don't have it they can order it for you. It comes in Fruit Punch and Grape flavor and she swears it is great. Refrig. and keep it cold. Good luck!

Kym, Keep asking questions. That's how we learn. So the question has been asked before again and again. Sometimes things need to be repeated, especially on a personal level. I HATE when someone replies to me "Go to the library". I KNOW the library exists. But this is a support group....we are here for each other. My favorite protein mix, and I've used it long before the surgery, is called CYTOPLEX. You can get it online at www.prosource.com It's cheaper if you buy two at a time. I've only bought the vanilla cause there's so much you can do with that flavor. One pack has 41 grams of protein which is too much in one meal, so I half it. Yesterday I added a cup of lowfat blueberry yogurt, chipped ice, a little skim milk. It was good! The possibilities are endless. Enjoy your journey.

DESIGNER WHEY is a great protein powder, they have several flavors: favorites being french vanilla and chocolate. I get it at F & M. (designerwhey.com). I think whey is much more palatable than the soy proteins or the liquid proteins at GNC. (yuck!). favorite protein shake: 2 T. sugar free ht cocoa mix 3T. non fat dry milk 1/2 c. skim milk 1 scoop designer whey chocolate protein pwdr. 1 T. peanut butter add ice, and blend. enjoy!
