Question:
Panni vs Abdomnioplasty exclusion
Hello my insurance company has an exclusion on an abdomnioplasty and not a panni, but they said its the same to them. How do I get this changed? — lynbaby B. (posted on February 18, 2002)

My ins co wouldn't approve an abdominoplasty, either, but they did approve
a panni. I got my surgery appointment today for April 5th. I could have set
it for earlier, but wanted to get as much skiing in as I can, while I can.
I have done a lot of research & I think I will be happy with the panni.
I was afraid the panni would only eliminate the bottom-of-the-abdomen roll,
but I have found it will pull everything tight almost up the breasts. My
doctor said it's basically the same, too, just different names, he calls it
a tummy tuck. I don't know how much underlying muscle will be tightened,
but I don't know that I really need that as much as the excess skin &
some residual fat removed. So, I don't have any info on how to get the
abdominoplasty covered rather than the panni, I decided to take what I can
get, some can't even get this covered. I think without exception everyone I
have talked to that has had the panni has been thrilled with their results.
I hope I will be, too....
