Question:
Will state disability cover WLS recovery?
I AM CONCERNED THAT MY SHORT TERM DISABILITY THROUGH MY EMPLOYER MAY NOT PAY FOR MY RECOVERY AFTER SURGERY. HAS ANYONE BEEN TURNED DOWN? MY STD IS THROUGH PRUDENTIAL? PLEAS HELP? — APRIL P. (posted on February 16, 2002)

I am having surgery on the 12th of March. I have Short Term through
Prudential also. I will be covered. The coverage starts the first day I am
in the hosiptal. Any days I am taking off before I will need to use
vacation time. I am not sure if this varies by employer but that is how
mine is working. Good Luck!

My STD has a pre-existing condition clause. Basically, as it was explained
to me, if I've been treated by a physician for MO BEFORE I was covered by
this STD, then I am inelligable. If that is a possiblility, check with your
HR rep and find out if they have a pre-existing clause.
