Question:
Hi, I was denied...
Hello I just received a call from my insurance co. and the nurse told me I was denied for the panni, she said it was an exclusion on my policy. Now when I talked with my benefits dept. they said as long as it was medically necessary. Whom do I believe. What do I do next? — lynbaby B. (posted on February 13, 2002)

Sounds like the request was not worded correctly. When I see my Endo for
my PCOS, he always bills my insurance for Hirsutism. However my insurance
will not cover any hirsutism issues whatsoever, no I've had to explain to
him a dozen times to change the billing to something else- hypertension
etc. The doctor needs to say this is a medically nescessary proceedure -
and perhaps it wasn't requested that way. I'd ask the nurse just how it
was requested, or see if you can get a copy of EVERYTHING.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but here it is. Get a copy of
your insurance policy from your Human Resources Department and see what it
says.
