Question:
I'm 4 weeks post-op. Why does everything tastes yucky?
Things I used to like seem gross to me now. Will this pass? — Janice P. (posted on February 11, 2002)

It will pass....... everything not only tasted very bad to me, but also
smelled bad! Things I loved tasted and smelled horrible! Don't worry, it
will all come back to ya.... then the "will power" has to kick
in!

I would say some things will pass. Things I used to kill for before kinda
gross me out now. Mayonnaise, hot dogs, McDonald's...ick! It's for the
better though. Fruit tastes really good to me now and I have always loved
salads. Good luck!

I had the same problem for the first 2-3 months. Sure wish it would have
lasted. Food tastes to good now.

Ketosis does this, water and food taste BAD. During the FAST loss time.
Atkins dieters are aware of this. It goes along with the SUPER bad breath.

the dietician told us that some people can't abide anything sweet for a
while. crystal light is supposed to taste downright nasty at first. of
course as a diabetic I feel this way about everything but coca cola..<my
bad when I have had it in past> also water might taste off for a few
weeks..she had no ideas why but said it is perfectly normal.
