Question:
I had a barium swallow last week and the Dr. told me I might need a revision
because he saw a staple line disruption, but this morning I went for an upper endosocopy and they told me everything looked o.k. So why would my Dr. make me think that I needed a revision, when in all actuality he was not fully sure?? — Ang B. (posted on February 5, 2002)

The almighty Dollar is the reason.
He could open you up. play with your innards for an hour, and sew you back
up. BAM! another 20, 30, or 40 grand he has made.

You can't see a staple line disruption with endoscopy. The barium swallow
is where it shows up.

It can go either way, that a "swallow" shows nothing and th scope
shows the SLD. Mine was found with a scope. If one or the other showed it,
I'd be WAITING ON THE TABLE for revision. In fact, I was!!! They had to
chase me away to wait for all the processing nonsense. I did not want ANY
pounds to find me again. One diagnosis was enough for me.
