Question:
Does insurance approval expire?

I am attempting to get insurance approval for surgery, but I won't be having surgery until late May or early June. Does approval expire? Or does it vary from provider to provider? Thanks!    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 17, 2002)

You really need to check with your insurance because they are all different. My approval was good for 6 months.

I had an unusually weird one who expires their approval after 30 days! I had to get approved to get a surgery date and then once I had a date, we re-applied for approval! The hoops we have to jump through huh?
