Question:
Anyone developed abscesses away from surgery site post-op?

Ack! I have developed a very large (almost tennis ball sized) abscess on my inner thigh which is incredibly painful. Went to a clinic yesterday where they started antibiotics, but the thing is hard as a rock and can't be drained yet. Has anyone had anything like this following surgery? I found something in the database that briefly mentioned a similar case, but not much was said. I'm just curious if this has anything to do with how the body heals after surgery. I'm going to my PCP today. Anyone else experienced this odd phenomenon?    — Tracie B. (posted on January 7, 2002)

I have a tendancy towards having boils and bumps anyway, but man, I've had about 10 of them since my surgery 08/15/02 (4 weeks postop). I have them come up under my arms, thighs and on my lower stomach and side. I haven't visited my PCP yet, but I'm on the verge of going. I thought since my diet was better and more water, less fat...that these things would leave me alone. I hope it is the body trying to rid itself of infections.
