Question:
What can I eat at 4 mos post-op
As of today I am 4 mos post-op, Lap RNY down 75 pounds, there are still some foods I can't tolerate but it is getting better. I find that I can eat more, thank god, like half a cup of food but I think this is normal. I will be taken my daughter to TGIF (friday) and would like to know if I could have an cheese burger. I don't want to chance it because I haven't had one yet, (and I hate McDonald's food) but I am dying for a burger. All you 4 mos (ers) please tell me what you are eating. Thanks a million..... love ya all. — [Anonymous] (posted on December 30, 2001)

I was doing grilled chicken but found it was really hard for me to digest.
I don't have a problem with pork chops as long as I chew real good. But
hamburger seems to work the best for me. Or beans. Believe it or not I eat
alot of beans and just deal with the gas because they are so high in
protein. I did not do to well with turkey at Thanksgiving or Christmas -
and it is my favorite. I'll try again next year. I'd have the cheeseburger
without the bun. I wouldn't try lettuce because I've heard it's hard to
digest. Good luck and have a great dinner.

I am only two months post-op and I can eat just about anything I want.
There are some things I haven't tried and probably won't. I just focus on
protiens with some vegis on the side, if I have room for them. Have your
cheeseburger and enjoy what you can eat of it. The bread will fill you up
faster, and as the previous poster suggested, you may want to eat it
without the bread. Some post-ops do not tolerate red meats well. Only you
would know whether you can eat beef or not. If you haven't tried any yet,
I'm not sure I would want to wait for a night out to find out you can't
tolerate it though. But, I hope you can eat beef and I hope you enjoy your
meal. Bon Apetite'.

If it were me, I would order: Hamburger (patty only), plain baked potato,
baked beans & cottage cheese. I ask for a "to-go box" and
have it ready so when my plate comes, I can put most of it in there, yet I
have variety. Also, I find pleasure in ordering my own meal, even tho I
cannot eat most of it. Hopefully, my to-go box goes in the trash at home,
if nobody else wants it. I have never been able to waste food before, but
if it can make it to the box, I can manage to toss it a day or so later.
Bon Appetit'

Chili beans, not baked beans. (I have had the baked beans out to dinner and
not dumped, but why chance it) Chili always agrees with me!

Hi! I eat anything that sounds good. I have found very few things that I
cannot tolerate. If I feel like having a little steak or a cheeseburger, I
do...Most of the time I have the pattie with the lettuce and tomato. I try
to get in a few bites of everything so that I have a somewhat balanced
meal. But my rule is....if it sounds good, go ahead and have it....We all
can only eat in strict moderation anyway...so why not. Have it if you can
hold it down.....GO FOR IT !!!!!

If your going to Fridays, I've got 2 words for - Tosado nachos!!! They are
THE best. I'm only 2 months out of my lap rny, but I had those and had NO
problem with them. There are 8 of them so you may want to split with
someone but they are THE best!! I shared mine with a friend and ate 2 and
took 2 home and had them later. Good Luck!!
