I don't know how much blood is lost during the surgery, but I didn't have
to have a transfusion.

I have anemia, and I only had to have 1 pint of pack red blood cells with a
starting Hemoglobin of 11.2 I was transfused 2 days after surgery with
hemoglobin of 8.4... </p> So I'm an extreme case, I wouldn't worry
about it unless anemia is a PEC.

My surgeon told us at a support group meeting that less than 1/4 of a cup
of blood is lost during surgery.

I was told no transfusion, unless a rare emergency/ complication occurs.
you will also sign a consent form at the hospital saying you accept/ refuse
a trans. in case an emergency arises.

That I know of, I have never been anemic or anything before, but I had to
have 2 units of blood transfused after surgery, the day before I went home.
Everyone who saw me said I was white as a ghost before the transfusion. I
don't know why and the doctor didn't offer any explanations, but I think it
is a possibility for anyone getting the surgery.
