I don't know if rice cakes are so terrible - I am 4+ months post op and allow myself a treat of FF pringles - sour cream and onion flavor most nights. I am down 100+lbs and think that we have to ease up on outselves some times!

Nasty carbohydrates! :) They make you lethargic and turn into fat!

PS- You are SO normal. Carbs are evil and seduce us often ;)

Well, I do think carbs are evil nasty little suckers.....however, I think it's much better for you to fall off the wagon with rice cakes instead of chocolate cakes. I agree with all the posts - carbs seduce us and are basically bad but sometimes we have to give ourselves a break. I eat a whole bag of LIGHT microwave popcorn every night (250 calories and GREAT roughage which is wonderful in aiding "regularity issues"). I'm 14 months post op and at my personal goal (138 pounds and size 8 or 10). Cut yourself some slack I think you're doing good. Merry Christmas!!

You've lost more weight than I have, so I'm not sure I should even respond. I've found that if I eat anything with carbs in it early in the day, I am much hungrier the rest of the day. <br> Rice cakes aren't bad for you, but please be careful. I tried some of the cheese mini rice cakes at work one day and I was hungry most of the day. (Drank a LOT of water that afternoon!). I do much better if I try to eliminate carbs completely during the day and have a small serving with my evening meal.

Tasty, few calories, I don't think they are evil. Have a few and relax-- if you can stop at some and not eat the whole bag. You lose weight because your total caloric intake is less that your output. Your body doesn't really care what form the calories are. It is your head you have to watch. If eating a few carbs makes you lose control, then stay away from them. If you can have carbs and stay in control, don't beat yourself up. Just make sure you are not missing nutrition you need because you are filling up on rice cakes. Protein first, fruits and vegies next, then a few simple carbs are not the end of the world. Your weight loss is great, congratulations! You are normal, and didn't you have weight loss surgery to be normal? I am not going to eat weird for the rest of my life. Normal people eat some carbs, just learn to manage it and you'll be happy and healthy and thin too!
