Question:
Rabkim or Jossart? Please help!

Hi, I was told by Dr. Rabkim's office that Dr. Jossart was no longer performing weight loss surgery. I have found that this is not true (found Dr. J's website), which leaves me a little... aggravated. I didn't see Rabkim or Jossart in the database, so I was wondering if some of their patients could give me some help. Who should I pick? Who's got more experience? When they were working together, did they just split up clients between each other or did they actually perform the surgery together? I had my mind set on Rabkim, but now I am just confused. I have tried to write people listed on www.duodenalswitch.com, but none have replied. I would like to hear what anyone has to say about these two surgeons' experience and skills (or anything else you'd like to add). Thanks for your help!    — [Anonymous] (posted on December 7, 2001)

Basically, Jossart taught Rabkin lap surgery and Rabkin taught Jossart the DS. They both alternated as primary surgeon when doing lap DS during the time they worked together. Dr Rabkin wants you to pay $12,000 upfront, while Dr Jossart wants you to pay $7,000 upfront since he just started his own practice. Those are the surgeon's fee only. You will be refunded the difference that the insurance company pays, but the insurance company will only pay a set amount so you will be out more money with Rabkin than Jossart. If you goto http://groups.yahoo.com you can do a search for both Rabkin and Jossart and join their individual lists. The main DS e-group is just called duodenalswitch Bottom line is they are both experienced lap DS surgeons, so you would need to focus on after care offered, cost, etc. Good luck with your choice!
