Question:
Have any of the Post-Ops out there noticed that their feet have gotten smaller?

Yes. I thought I was crazy, but I asked my doctor and he said it just
feels this way because I do not swell and/or retain water any longer. I am
now able to wear "normal" shoe sizes. Not the two sizes too big
just so I can get my fat foot in it shoe. LOL. I used to buy a size 8 1/2
WWW, now I buy a 7W. I still have a wide foot, just not as fat.
Tere 4/23 down 115 lbs.

Absolutely!! I went from a size 7 - 6 1/2 wide width to a size 5 1/2
regular width. I've never worn a regular width shoe my whole life. I also
noticed that since I've shrunk shoe size, I've even shrunk in height. I
wonder if this is because of loosing the padding on the bottom of the feet.
I have always been 5'0", but now I am measuring at 4'11
3/4"....My husband noticed that about a month ago. My surgery was
08/28/01 and I am currently down 54 lbs. I had an open RNY 60"
distal.

That was one of the funnier things about this surgery. I went from a size
9W to a regular size 8. It was a perk that I had not expected and really
like. :)

Yes, I've gone from a 9 or 9.5 to an 8.5. Still wearing wides but I know in
time I'll go back to 8.5 regular. I'm 11 weeks post-op and down 65 lbs so
it happened pretty fast for me. As for height, my posture must be better or
something, because I've gone from 5'3" to 5'4"... according to my
doctor's nurse who measured me barefoot three different times (after I said
I didn't believe her LOL). This does wonders for the BMI. :-)

Someone told me that your arch stretches out from the extra weight, and
with time it will "bounce back" and your feet will become
smaller. My feet are WAYYYYY smaller now at 14 months out. I didnt lose a
whole lot in the length or width, but my feet flop around in my pre op
shoes nonetheless. I went from an 11 wide to a 10 regular so far.....
anybody wanna buy some shoes? LOL :)

Happens all the time. I am no longer a wide size. I REALLY look forward to
my wife JEN whos surgery is next monday loosing her wide foot. Wide makes
it tough to find high heels, and I want her to wear them a lot post op! The
higher and spiker the better!

I used to laugh when I heard that feet shrank because I just couldn't
fathom it. I could understand the width part, but not the length. I
started my journey at a size 10W. I'm now a 9M. It's funny because I
STILL don't know why the length changes, but it does for some.

Yup. One size smaller. Plus, I'm a half-inch taller. Go figure. (Hey, the
half inch probably gives me an extra pound or two on the actuarial scales!
:) )
