Question:
Can anyone out there tell me of a plateau buster?
I feel stuck and frustrated. I've only lost about 70 pounds from 292 since 01/25/01. I don't get it, while others are losing over 100 pounds in less than 6 months I feel that I'm stalling in the weight loss dept. I've read other posts suggesting lots of water and protein. I ordered one called PROV60 by Labrada with 30 grams of proein per scoop. I plan to drink this 2X daily and use it as a meal replacement. Has anyone out there ever tried this brand before? I plan to take my left over Xenical whenever I feel that I have eaten anything with too much fat in it. I'm desperate! Any suggestions as to what else mught jumpstart the weight loss? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 28, 2001)

At just 1 week shy of 1 year post-op, and a "slow loser" (at just
under 100 pounds) my advise is to MOVE YOUR BODY, and if you are eating
right, drinking water...keep that up too! the important thing to do is just
go with the flow...eventually your body will kick back in gear again. But
if you sabotage your diet now out of frustation, and give up your exercise,
in the long run it will be so much harder for you! Try to take one day at a
time and know that if you're doing what you know you should be
doing...you'll get there! In the last month, since increasing my exercise
(5 miles a day outside on my mountain bike) I have gone down 1 pant size
but haven't lost a pound! Funny how your body works! But I feel great! Keeo
up the great work, you'll make it!

The nurse who had this surgery told us this...
Stay away..from White Stuff for awhile...cheese, potatoes, rice,
pasta, bread and make sure youve taken your measurements.DRINK YOUR WATER,
EAT YOUR PROTEIN VERY IMPORTANT....because when you are not loosing your
body is re-adjusting...and soon will go plunk and drop more....
good luck jacki

Unfortunately you didn't say which type of surgery you had, but if you had
the DS (duodenals switch), you could try eating a high-fat meal which would
clean you out. It works for me--every time I hit a plateau, all I have to
do is eat a high-fat meal and I'll lose 2 or 3 pounds.<p>
If you had the RNY, then you need to stay away from fat and sugar,
concentrate on protein, and get some regular exercise. Best wishes.
