Question:
removal of skin
I have lost 135 pounds and my arms and thighs are so bad. I can't wear most shirts and forget about wearing pants without tights under them to hold up my jello thighs which sag so bad.. I think I have a good insurance carrier and I am looking for a good doc in the wilmington de area....What are the chances of this being covered?? By the way the boobs need help too.. I am tired of wearing pants under my pants so my legs are not so saggy.. my insurance paid for the tummy to be done...Any tips?? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 2, 2001)

I don't know anyone in your area who does cosmetic surgery, but I can tell
you that my doctor said that it is usually covered if medically necessary,
such as if it causes irritation or infection under the folds of excess skin
or if it causes self-esteem problems that interfere with daily living. I
don't know if this helps, but good luck. I'm having a hard time getting
rid of the "saggies" too. I know a large part of it is because I
haven't been exercising enough (especially lifting weights/toning). I was
told that walking everyday briskly for at least a half hour helps a lot
too. I wish you the best. Andrea

I live in Seaford now but used to live in Wilm. area. You might check out
Dr. Neil DeLiew (not sure of spelling). I recall he had a good reputation
and works out of Christiana and has office in Wilmington.
