Question:
2 months post-op how much food could you eat?

If everyone could respond that would be great!!!!!!!!!!! If you could add which surgery you hade that would be great. I started with a 6 oz stomach right after surgery and can now eat 9- 10 oz. I had DS not RNY.    — [Anonymous] (posted on October 27, 2001)

I had RNY about 2 months ago. I had a 2oz. pouch and can eat maybe 2oz. and 2 tablespoons of food. It really depends on what I'm eating. I started out could eat only 2 townhouse crackers and now I can eat 4. Ha! They just opened up a new mall around where I live. They have about 10 food places in it. They all were passing out samples. Hello!! That was my dinner. What a cheap way to eat:>)

I had the DS 8 weeks ago and I don't know what size my stomach was when I first had surgery. All I know is that I could eat about 1/2 of a yogurt cup or one egg, for example. Now I can eat one egg and one piece of toast for breakfast. Tonight I had 1/2 of a flour tortilla taco (approximately 6 oz. I guess). I'm definitely eating more, but don't know what's normal for a DS patient. BTW, I've lost a total of 36 lbs. Also, feeling that might be a little slow, but don't really know.

I had RNY 5 weeks ago with 125cm bypassed. I think my surgeon made my pouch 30 cc, which is one ounce, but I can eat 1/2 to 2/3 a cup of pureed food. Since this is liquid (primarily) I don't think it's representative of my real capacity. (2/3 a cup of applesauce is not equal to 2/3 a cup of well-chewed pork chop!) I must be doing something right because 5 weeks later, I am already down 41 lbs! I do have "big stomach" and "small stomach" days... today was a small stomach day and I could barely eat 1/2 cup of baked beans. I do as the pouch says since I don't like paying the price of ignoring it. LOL

that sound great to me! i am 2 1/2 months out of surgery, and I can only eat two meals of about one ounce each. I also have a protein drink and 68 ounces of water. I cannot eat amny more or I throw up! If I try to eat three eals, i do not get enough protein, because I cannot drink my protein supplement. I also have trouble with the water and really have to work at it.

I can certainly eat more than 2 OZ!! June 4th was my R-N-Y (it's been 6 weeks today!), and I can eat lots of certain things (ashamed to say I had a whole can of green beans...without any problem--so far lol). It's the first time I've done ANYTHING like that, but the cupboards were pretty bare--it's grocery day this evening--and I was hungry. I wonder how many or how few calories we should be getting in. I read one guy's comment that he works out every day at the gym...and eats no more than 400 cal. per day! Is that what we're supposed to be limited to--400 cal.? I also read people say, "Oh, you'll be able to eat your favorites again--just can't eat as much. I'm having about 600-730 cal. per day, and am losing about 4-5 lbs. weekly. I see all kinds of others losing WAY more and faster, but I watch everything I eat, and if I even have one of my favorite (more fattening than I had realized) German yogurts, I don't lose. If I wee to eat any of my old "normal" favorites and I'd gain--several pounds. What is the deal? How much SHOULD we be eating, calorie-wise? Yes, I walk between 1 mi. and 2.5 mi. every day! Need some words of wisdom...please. Cat
