Question:
Does anyone know if PacificCare HMO pays for psychological evaluation if referred?
I wondered if I were referred by my surgeon or PCP if the insurance would cover my psychological evaluation? — A V. (posted on October 13, 2001)

I have PacifiCare HMO and I had a psych eval in July. Last week Pacificare
sent me a bill and denied my request to pay for the eval. I am disputing
the claim. On a much better note, Pacificare approved my surgery in less
than 48 hours. They were horrible with getting the initial referral, but
great with approving the surgery. Good luck and God Bless.

Hello: I have Pac Care HMO in California and they paid for everything..my
PCP gave me the referrals that I told her that I needed and I paid my usual
co payments($10.) for each initial visit...except that I did not have a co
pay for my pre op tests(ie:ekg, blood,) because I was not seen by a dr on
these visits..you should only have a co-pay when seen by an M.D....I am 8
1/2 wks post op down #64 and am out of pocket $120. since I began
everything...this includes my post op drugs and all...Not Bad Huh???? Pac
Care is pretty good about paying for everything.....
