Question:
Anyone have BCBS of Texas PPO as their administrator?
My company is self-insured. They informed us that they are switching to BCBS of TX on Oct. 1. I asked the benefits rep at our company what the status of my pending appeal for my claim would be given that we won't be using them anymore. She asked them directly and was informed of their exclusion. It sounds iron-clad. I am very disappointed as I have been fighting for approval for months now and was hopeful Walter Lindstrom could get it overturned. He didn't even get a chance to write his letter. Anyone ever get approval for the RNY with BCBS of TX BlueChoice PPO? Or should I start selling off my personal belongings in order to self-pay? — Diana M. (posted on September 19, 2001)

Click the top page "insurers" and you can get a lot of info.

Yes, I know and have already looked up this particular insurer. What I am
needing to know is what that section does not indicate, whether the people
who got approval work for a self-insured company.
